GRAPHIC DESIGNER

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

maruxdesign is a design consultancy based in Jakarta, Indonesia and was established in 2009. We are professional consultants staffed by fully qualified creative designers. We can propose a comprehensive of the whole scope from product, environmental to graphic design all in digital, prototype and actual product.

Core focus: Industrial & Product Design, Environmental Design, Graphic Design – Prints / Digital and Branding.

Full-time, permanent position with 3 months trial/probation
Working hours 9-6, Monday to Thursday,1 hour lunch break
Working hours 9-6:30, Friday, 1 1/2 hour lunch break
Convenient Central Jakarta location (SENAYAN).
Salary negotiable depending on experience and skills.

DESIGN AND PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT TASKS:

• Manage all client enquiries for product development
• Write clear design briefs to confirm client requests
• If necessary, meeting with clients to discuss brief and obtain new materials
• Undertake ideation and hand sketching phase
• Additionally, translate sketches by creative directors into workable designs
• Fully comfortable with 2D software ( Adobe, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign )
• Work together in consultation with client to create final solution.
• Talk to clients / customers / Distributors and obtain feedback on products (packaging /  prints/ signages).
• Constant evaluation of existing product range – how can products (packaging / prints)be improved?

NON-DESIGN TASKS:

• Customer liaison:
– Check and reply to emails daily, cc important communications to management.
– Public speaking about maruxdesign mission and innovative design
– Prepare keynote slides and presentation materials for such events
– Occasional customer service for walk-in customers

-Talk to clients / customers / Distributors and obtain feedback on products.

– Name new products – simple and descriptive eg. “display cleaner”, “dehumidifier kit”

• Sourcing Materials:

– Working with Creative team, source reliable and good quality supplies / Printers / Producers

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Undergraduate degree (S1) in Design (Graphic Design preferred, but also accepting applicants from digital media, advertising, and interior).
• Good sketching ability and able to draft patterns by hand.
• Fluent in Adobe CS6 – Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.

• Familiar with OSX

• Able to use MS Word or Pages, MS Excel or Numbers and MS PowerPoint or Keynote
• Ability to solve design problems elegantly and creatively.
• Ability to work efficiently with client-driven timelines.
• Ability to take the initiative on projects with client-driven requirements.

• Able to communicate ideas effectively both visually, and in writing.
• Fluent in English and Indonesian.

DESIREABLE:

• 2 years experience in Graphic Design Industry/ Branding Institute / Advertising (but, if you are a fresh graduate and you think you have got what it takes, we’ll accept your application!)
• Passionate to work in a small, dynamic, design studio

• Strong knowledge of ‘sustainable design’.
• Willingness to take on challenges, work hard and learn from experience.
• Friendly and able to work in a small team.
