Assistant Group Supervisor – Columbia University in the City of New York

Position Summary
Columbia World Projects (“CWP”) is an initiative intended to better connect Columbia University with the world at large where laws and policies are made, actions are taken, and norms and attitudes are shaped. CWP will facilitate the application of academic work in the context of a broader, global discussion to address fundamental challenges in our home city, around the nation, and across the globe.
The Digital Strategist is responsible for defining and engaging with CWP online audiences while producing digital content. We are looking for someone who is passionate about our mission and excited to share the story of Columbia World Projects through creative content.

Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Director, Communications, the Digital Strategist will:
Manage the back end of the CWP website, including overseeing website upgrades, enhancements, and redesigns.
Manage a digital marketing budget of approximately $10,000 to $15,000 and determine the most strategic and optimized use of the digital marketing budget as well as manage digital marketing campaigns.
Manage the distribution of targeted email newsletters and its multimedia components.
Create and edit audio and video content of CWP events for online distribution.
Create visual content that adheres to CWP’s brand and with an eye toward compelling design.
Manage all social media content for CWP with the goal of communicating the mission, fellowship program and individual projects. Identify ways to grow our audience and keep them engaged.
Work closely with the communications team and other CWP colleagues to ensure all digital needs of the organization are met.
Provide input into marketing and campaign strategies and plans, especially in the communication of web/digital best practices.
Conduct regular quality assurance reviews to assess user experience and clear information architecture to ensure site optimization.
Formulate recommendations and incorporate learning from analytics data into ongoing maintenance of the site.
Additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent required. Minimum two years related experience. ** Resume and cover letter required with application submission.**

Other Requirements
Design background and experience with video and photography.
Advanced knowledge of email distribution and analytics, eg. MailChimp.
Experience with content management systems, preferably Drupal.
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite tools and ability to edit digital content.
